The latest development in this field. This mechanical seal definitely prevents any propeller shaft drip in the bilge. The system consists of a non-rotating carbon cuff joined to the stern tube by means of a rubber bellow and a stainless steel rotor fixed on the propeller shaft. The tension of the bellow, with the help of water pressure, produces a constant contact between the carbon cuff and the stainless steel rotor resulting is a drip free propeller shaft seal.
A neoprene bearing incorporated in the bellow aligns both bearing surfaces and reduces shaft vibrations. Once installed, it does not require any adjustment. Remarkable disalignment is allowed, both axial and angular.
