Helm pumps hydraulic steering system

New SeaStar helms (and cylinders) with Item Code with suffix “-4” have “ORB” - fittings. These are sealed with an O-ring and may be oriented
into any desired direction. SeaStar helms withouth suffix “-4” have 1/4:” conical fittings.

Helm shaft details: ¾” standard taper (1” per ft). Thread: 5/8” - 18 UNF. Key 3/16” (#606 Woodruff Key).
Port sizes -5 ORB (new SeaStar helms) or ¼” NPT (old SeaStar helms and BayStar).

Caution. For ¼” NPT fittings the following applies:
· Fittings inserted in the rear of the helm should be installe until finger tight and then turned additional 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 turns depending on desired orientation of fitting. DO NOT exceed 156 in./lbs (17,6Nm)!
· Use a pipe sealant such as Loctite PST or equivalent on all fitting threads. DO NOT use “tape” sealers.
· Pro-Helms are not to be used with unbalanced cylinders: Lock-Up will occure.
